Description
Also known as Duvauchelle Red or Duvauchelle Special, the Duvauchelle Plumeria is a rare and exquisite variety. Boasting 4-inch, rich velvet-red blooms with pointed, slightly overlapping petals, this plumeria is a visual delight. It hails from the island of Kauai and is named in honor of Alice Kealaula DuVauchelle, a native of the same island.
The flower emits a subtle, sweet aroma and has a fair to good longevity once bloomed. The plant's foliage is equally captivating, featuring a deep, reddish-green hue. Despite its beauty, the Duvauchelle Plumeria is an extremely slow grower, categorized as a "Slow Lanky Grower."
Once believed to be extinct and still rarely found on any of the Hawaiian islands, this plumeria variety is notable for its exceptional foliage and its ability to root well, particularly in the early spring.
