San Miguel #272: A Tribute to Marie Gallo
The 'San Miguel #272', also known as 'Marie's Rainbow', is a captivating plumeria that pays homage to the late Marie Gallo. This remarkable cultivar, propagated and named by Bud Guillot, carries with it a story as vibrant as its blooms. The name 'San Miguel' was chosen in memory of a quaint fishing village in Baja Mexico, a place of serenity and beauty, much like the flower itself.
Colorful Symphony of Petals: The 'San Miguel #272' is a visual feast, featuring a blend of red-orange and salmon hues that dance together in perfect harmony. The center of each flower boasts a small, orange-yellow eye, creating a focal point that draws the eye. Measuring an impressive 4 1/2 inches in diameter, these blooms are not only large but also exhibit a heavy texture that adds to their distinctiveness. The open, pointed petals are adorned with a striking red band on their backside, enhancing their visual allure.
Fragrance: This variety is renowned for its spicy clove fragrance, a unique and enticing aroma that sets it apart from other plumerias. The scent is strong and lasting, making 'San Miguel #272' a delightful addition to any garden where fragrance is treasured.
Growth and Structure: The 'San Miguel #272' plumeria boasts a balanced and robust branching habit. The tree itself is thick-branched, lending a sense of strength and stability to the plant. This structure supports the large, heavy blooms, which are especially stunning in the evening sun. The dense, dark green leaves of this cultivar are easily identifiable and contribute to its overall lush appearance.
Cultivation and Care: This strong-growing tree is recognized for its ease of rooting and excellent branching qualities. It is a resilient cultivar, adaptable to various growing conditions, and is known for its good keeping quality. The blooms' heavy texture not only contributes to their beauty but also to their durability.
Summary: The 'San Miguel #272', or 'Marie's Rainbow', is a registered cultivar celebrated for its red-orange blooms with a spicy clove scent. This plumeria is an exceptional choice for both novice and experienced gardeners, offering a stunning display of color, fragrance, and structural beauty. Its story, originating from a seedling gifted to Marie Gallo and its naming in honor of a beloved location, adds a layer of sentimental value to this already extraordinary plumeria.

Very nice and very tall rooted cutting
This is a beautiful rooted cutting and it pushed out a inflow and has already bloomed.

Lots of flowers...
The rooted cutting came and was barely 2 feet tall, but had an inflorescence with lots of gorgeous blooms! They were going for at least a month. Would have still been blooming, but our northern sun got weak, so the last few buds didn't make it for this season.
