Why Use Excalibur Boost
Excalibur BOOST Plumeria Fertilizer
(10-12-14 with micronutrients)
Excalibur BOOST Fertilizer, our latest introduction with an NPK of 10-12-14 designed specifically for plumeria. Excalibur BOOST is another supreme-quality fertilizer from the team at Florida Colors Nursery.
Excalibur BOOST is designed to give plumeria that extra kick of important nutrients when they need it most:
- After severe weather like extended rain events.
- After re-potting or transplanting, to minimize transplant shock.
- After cuttings have started rooting, it promotes faster root growth.
- After transplanting seedlings into pots.
- After grafting to promote faster healing and growth.
These are scenarios when a plant can be at its weakest and most vulnerable. BOOST uses a faster release formula, with nutrients formulated for a quicker release over a few months.
You can use BOOST without our regular Excalibur or with Excalibur (if Excalibur VI or IX is applied 2 months or more after the initial application).
Excalibur BOOST is a custom-mixed fertilizer using water and controlled-release technology formulated specifically for when your plumeria needs extra nutrients. Excalibur is tested at 86 degrees, not 70 degrees, so it's longer-lasting. Excalibur BOOST uses a combination of multi-coat and poly-coat technology to achieve the release rate, which is moisture-activated and based on osmosis. Caution: Do not apply in direct contact with trunk. Works best when applied as a side dressing.
Excalibur BOOST can be used any time without Excalibur VI and IX and BOOST can be used with Excalibur VI or IX if applied 2 months or more after the initial application.
Typical Usage Rates when using as a BOOST after re-potting or transplanting, for newly rooted cutting, when your plumeria are stressed.

This should help you calculate how much fertilizer you need for your plumeria.
- 4-4 1/2" pot = 3/4 tablespoon
- 6" - 1 gal pot = 1-2 tablespoons
- 8” - 3 gal pot = 3 tablespoons
Each 4 lb package contains approximately 120 tablespoons.

Excalibur BOOST is applied dry and is best to cover with about an inch of two of soil for even distribution. Excalibur BOOST is water soluable and needs water to release nutrients.
How it feeds your plants:
- Application of Water
- Release of Nutrients
- Decomposition of coating
The advantages of Excalibur BOOST being a water soluable fertilizers:
The nutrients are available gradually over a shorter time frame. The nutrients from Excalibur BOOST are provided steadily over 2-3 months (depending on how much you have to water). This is how most plants prefer to be fed and helps them grow well. Granular fertilizers are easier to control because you can actually see how much fertilizer you're using and where it's being dispersed.
Fertilizers are a mix of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K). The ratio will be indicated by three numbers (the first is nitrogen, the middle number is phosphorous, and the third is potassium). We recommend a balanced fertilizer with micronutrients for plumeria with a NPK of 10-12-14 Excalibur Plumeria Fertilizer BOOST.
Micronutrients - The Hidden Story...Often Only Delivered by Controlled Release Fertilizers!
There are several nutrients essential to plant growth and health that are only needed in very small quantities.
- Magnesium (Mg) is an essential plant nutrient. It has a wide range of key roles in many plant functions. One of the magnesium’s well-known roles is in the photosynthesis process, as it is a building block of the Chlorophyll, which makes leaves appear green.
- Sulphur (S)helps form important enzymes and assists in the formation of plant proteins. It is needed in very low amounts, but deficiencies can cause serious plant health problems and loss of vitality.
- Boron (B) plays a vital role in a diverse range of plant functions including cell wall formation and stability, maintenance of structural and functional integrity of biological membranes, movement of sugar or energy into growing parts of plants, and POLLINATION and SEED SET.
- Copper (Cu) is a component of some enzymes and of vitamin A. Symptoms of copper deficiency include browning of leaf tips and chlorosis.
- Iron (Fe) is essential for chlorophyll synthesis, which is why an iron deficiency results in chlorosis.
- Manganese (Mn) activates some important enzymes involved in chlorophyll formation. Manganese deficient plants will develop chlorosis between the veins of its leaves. The availability of manganese is partially dependent on soil pH.
- Molybdenum (Mo) is essential to plant health. Molybdenum is used by plants to reduce nitrates into usable forms. Some plants use it for nitrogen fixation, thus it may need to be added to some soils before seeding legumes.
- Zinc (Zn) participates in chlorophyll formation, and also activates many enzymes. Symptoms of zinc deficiency include chlorosis and stunted growth.
